Difference Between AOSP and CAF Named CUSTOM ROMS.

By surfing through web you may have came across names like LOS, AOSP , CAF , etc so what does they actually mean.

First let's learn what AOSP is..

Whenever google releases its android , there are some bugs or flaws in the released version and so google releases a source code on the AOSP ( Android Open Source Project ) forum and this team helps google by making the android bug free.

Now what some developers do is, with the help of this source code , they develop this rom for other available devices in the market and as this is kind of a modification in the official rom, it is known as a Custom Rom.

Many Popular and great available custom roms out there are...
Lineage Os
Resurrection Remix OS
AOSP Extended
Pixel Experience ( My Fav )

WHAT are CAF edition roms?

So, when a device is launched with a particular android version , with the help of a little bit knowledge of rooting , anyone can make its device run available AOSP latest version and enjoy the latest stock android experience.

Now , each device launches with different processor and so that each device can not run each version of android.

CAF means CodeAurora Forums

For Example,
Redmi 4 is a Stock Android Pie compatible device but it can not run an AOSP Pie ROM as smooth and lag free as an inbuilt given OS (MIUI)

So, when Snapdragon Releases source codes for their device's processor , it will be easier for the developers to make an AOSP rom compatible for the device. So when a ROM is developed for a specific device with a specific processor , that ROM is known as an CAF edition ROMs.

The CAF edition roms perform better than the AOSP ROMs in daily life and also the benchmarks of CAF edition is higher compared to other Custom or Stock ROMs available.
